A Crochet Woodland Fox
Here is one of the sweet woodland fox squares for my Woodland Wonders blanket that I’ve been working on this week, designed by the wonderfully talented Coastal Crochet. I had to put my projects down for a while with holiday business and allergies, but hopefully I’ll get back into the swing of things now. Weeklies This week’s Spanish film is for cultural appreciation rather than language learning, as this stunning visual documentary of indigenous people of Mexico is wordless.

Happy 2025
Happy New Year! Normally I like to celebrate New Year’s Day with a nature hike or walk, but this year I had a cold, so I just relaxed at home. It did give me time to think on the year ahead, crochet, and immerse myself in a lot of Spanish language films and television shows for my Spanish language learning (and enjoyment, of course). I also bought a premium Duolingo subscription for language lessons, as a gift to myself. I’ve started a new blanket for 2025, with a bright and festive row with colorful popcorns to celebrate the new year, a white row for a fresh new year and with…

Mini Christmas Tree Bauble Ornament Crochet Pattern
Last week I shared a free pattern for Christmas Tree Bauble Ornaments and today I have a pattern for mini bauble ornaments with a slightly different style from last week’s. They have cupcake-like shapes, or even acorns (this is giving ideas for acorn ornaments) or spinning tops. Once you stuff them with Poly-Fil, you have more control over how you shape them, too. Free Crochet Pattern: Christmas Tree Bauble Ornaments
I’m happy to say that this week I completed my first item on My Curiouser and Curiouser List, making my own crochet Christmas ornaments. I experimented with a few colors I had on hand for a blue and white “Snowballs” theme and a “Peach Tree” theme. I am really loving the colors in the peach tree themed ornament best, and now want to crochet something else with these colors sometime. A note about the pattern: I made the popcorn stitches using four double crochet stitches for each. Popcorn stitches are traditionally made with three to five double crochet stitches. Weekly Roundup: Woodland Wonders Crochet Along and Lotion Bars
Last weekend I went out of town for a show, and was a bit busy during the week, so I didn’t get to do a weekly roundup. As a result, this weekend I really needed some at-home time – I always do when I feel like I’ve been out too much. My daughter was on vacation this weekend, too, so we didn’t get to have our usual Sunday outing. So I spent the entire weekend at home cleaning, cooking, relaxing with my cats, and making things. This included testing out different recipes for homemade lotions bars, and in the process I learned that although it is really soft and moisturizing,…

Weekly Roundup: Bee-Inspired, Sea-Inspired, and Banyan Moon
This week I made a soy wax candle from some of those bee and honeycomb shaped wax embeds I recently made. I wanted to make it like a cupcake, but it was much more difficult than I remembered when I last made some cupcake candles about ten years ago. Piping the wax at just the right temperature was the hardest part, and at one point I poured the wax in the cake piping when it was too warm and it made a big mess all over the counter, which I had to scrape and scrape to get it all up. After a few messy tries I finally got it to…

Weekly Roundup: Sea-Inspired Crochet, Bee-autiful Wax Embeds, and Reading
This week I’ve started some new little projects, including making a sea-inspired blanket of my own design and some bee themed candles. I’ve also picked up something different to read, venturing into a genre I don’t read much of, sci-fi and fantasy. After participating in the “Postcards with Love” crochet-along a couple of years ago, I bought a lot of coral, aqua, blue, and cream yarn to start my own sea-inspired blanket, and have finally started on it this week. For the center, and after a lot of experimenting with the five sides, I made this pink starfish. The next part will be the trickiest part, getting this to fit…

Postcards with Love Blanket
This is my most recently finished major project, my sea-inspired blanket designed by the talented Eleonora of Coastal Crochet. I love the cheery color combinations and “Postcards with Love” theme of this blanket.
